There are no real difference running a Second life company or a real life one. It is practially the same. I know i have been running small companys for over 30 years. Of cource you have to spend some more time in front of your computer.
If you are serious with your Second life company you should get some kind of website or a blog. You can get further information on your products and connect to the several blog networks that write about Second life. Following up you graphic profile and working on your brand. Second life company is as much work as real life ones and if you need help we are always around.
I spend many hours in front of my computer running 2worlds2go in SL if you want to be successful in your Second life business so have you. But i think i forgot to tell you how much fun it is.
Finding the right place and size for your SL business.
I have found that if you want to sell in SL the place is important it can be a rental space in a big mall or maybe a small shop on your 512 sqm land. But the place as in real life tell your customer about your product and what they can expect from it. Bigger is not always better. Finding the right place can bost sales a lot.
Thats why we build stores and malls and sometimes run rentals for different purposes.
For several years we rented this small space on Book Island and it was by far the best place to show of new books. We do statistics on all our products. By placing this simple book store on a Island where everybody visiting already are interested in books and publishing we got a lot of downloads.
Second life is all about graphics and making your SL company visible is often about getting a good graphic identity. |

I have made a lot of logos for real life companys and a few in Second life. The work is the same and result is just as important. |
I made this logo suggestions for a Second life company in Sydney, Australia. It was fun beacause its on the completely other side of the world from me. Thats a client that you only get in Second life.

A build lives in a landscape or just in a empty space. By using the spaces around buildings you can make it look more alive and also cut frame rates, what you call lag in Second life.
Making a garden or walkways separates buildings making a nice environment for the build showing it of in the best way. It also makes it possible to make areas with low object count so more objects can be used in the build and interiors. There are some great works in landscaping in Second life and I always try to visit many of them.
